The location of this scholarship isn’t specified in the scholarship name. However, I’m here to dispel any and all of your concerns about this.

It is a scholarship program based in New York that is fully funded, which is incredible. Studying in New York without incurring any financial obligations is undoubtedly a wish or a dream come true situation; however, there are only 245 days left to submit an application for this scholarship. Here is all of the basic information you’ll need to get started on your enrollment process.

All eligible students can apply online for Excelsior Scholarships 2023-2024. Students can attend a SUNY or CUNY college for free with the Excelsior Scholarship and other financial support programs.

Aspirational Initiatives:

The Excelsior Scholarship program gives you an extra five years to finish your degree if you’re enrolled in an opportunity program (which requires completion of the equivalent of 24 credits each academic year).

Eligibility for Excelsior Scholarships:

To receive the maximum Excelsior Scholarship, an applicant must have or expect to receive a New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) award or federal Pell grant for the academic year. To be eligible for Excelsior Scholarship award payments, you must have completed two years of full-time undergraduate study in an associate’s degree program, four years of full-time undergraduate study in a bachelor’s degree program, or five years if the program of study normally requires five years in a bachelor’s degree program. During the time period covered by the award, you must remain a resident of New York State. Your award will be converted to a no-interest loan if you don’t meet these requirements.

Applicants should:

• Be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen; 
• Must be a New York State native for at least 12 months before the start of the semester.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Be a degree holder of a high school in the United States, or have earned a graduate-level diploma, or have passed a government-approved “Ability to Benefit” test, as determined by the Chief executive of the State Education Department.
• Undergraduate degree at a college in New York State or the City of New York.
• Enrolled for at least 12-semester credits and 30 credits per year (repeatedly), with no breaks in enrollment except for documented reasons.

How to submit an application for the Excelsior Scholarship Program?

Newly admitted students who wish to be considered for financial aid from New York State under the provisions of the DREAM Act must first apply for eligibility under the NYS DREAM Act before being considered for the Excelsior Scholarship. If you have previously qualified under the New York State DREAM Act, you need to submit a new application to be considered for the Excelsior Scholarship.
